September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 2020

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Kids Cancer Care and the Canadian Blood Services are partnering in the fight against this disease. Cancer is the number one disease killing Canadian children today. Help end childhood cancer today, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

1 in every 5 Canadian children diagnosed with cancer die.

You never know when you or someone you care about may need blood.

    • Every minute of every day, a patient in Canada needs blood.
    • We need more regular donors to maintain a strong national inventory of blood and blood products to meet patient needs.
    • New donors are critical to meeting Canada’s future blood needs.
    • 1 in 2 Canadians will either need blood or know someone who will at some point.
    • Encourage your family and friends to donate.
    • Giving blood is one of the most direct ways you can help someone.

Many people wait for the right time to become blood donors and fall is a great time to start a new habit.

    • We encourage more people to become regular blood donors.
    • More donors are needed on a regular basis to maintain a strong national inventory of blood and blood products to meet patients’ needs.
    • Over 100,000 new blood donors are needed in Canada this year to keep up with demand.
