These are some pretty unpredictable times we are living in, and now more than ever, it’s important to support local. That means getting out into the community and supporting local businesses, especially the smaller ones that may be having trouble staying afloat. So we thought we’d make it an easy decision for you, and give some cool facts you may not have known about staying local and shopping local.

  • Local businesses tend to be more accountable and focused on their local communities and donate more money to non-profits
  • Local businesses are often owned and operated by your friend and neighbours!  They care about and are invested in the well-being of your community and its future.
  • Supporting local businesses is a beneficial step for preserving the health of the environment because small businesses often have a smaller carbon footprint than larger companies.
  • Local businesses are more likely to utilize other local businesses such as banks, service providers, and farms.

It isn’t always the easiest or most convenient option to visit a local independent business rather than a large national chain that might be down the street. However, there are plenty of ways you can help support your local economy by thinking local first. Try hitting the local takeout option if there are some available and open around you. And when you’re done there, you can head on over to your local garden centre and pick up all the necessities to get that yard going!

Supporting local is an important way to stimulate and improve the local economy, the neighbourhood, and it will make you feel great!

You can get help support local by visiting Campers Village. They’re a locally-owned Alberta company and they’ve been helping Albertans recharge and reconnect in nature since 1963. They’re open now- and of course following all Alberta Health Services guidelines for physical distancing, cleaning, and safety. You won’t have to worry, throughout the store you’ll find their hygiene stations as well as physical barriers and distance indicators. And if you’re still unsure, they do offer curbside pickup.

To celebrate, their Re-Opening Sale is on with great deals to be had on hiking boots & shoes, rain jackets, tents, kayaks, camping gear, and more. They also have everything you need to make your tent nice and cozy with sleeping bags and tent accessories. You can check everything out in-store, or get a head start on knowing what you want HERE.
