Neil Peart, the drummer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band Rush, has died at the age of 67, according to multiple media reports. A spokesperson for the Peart family tells Rolling Stone Peart passed away January 7th following a battle with brain cancer.  The long time Canadian rocker, best known as the drummer and primary lyricist of the rock band Rush had an illustrious career spanning nearly five decades. His drumming was renowned for its technical proficiency, and his live performances for their exacting nature and stamina.
